51st International Design Competition Sample Submission Form

A link to a short video about your project (recommended). Remember, this is a concealed-identity competition. Design Firms: Remove company name, logos and other identifying information from your video, project description, images, and floor plans. FAILURE TO REMOVE REFERENCES TO YOUR DESIGN FIRM WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. Entry fees will not be returned.

If your video needs to be private, please upload that video to Dropbox, select that file in Dropbox, click “Share”, “click “Create link”, and copy that link here. This will allow Judges and Admins to view your video without making it public to the web.

Add the store/project logo.This will be seen in the listing of entries. 5 MB is the maximum file size. The logo must be in RGB color.

Submission Rules

You are required to submit a description of your project of not more than 750 words. In your written narrative (no bullet points), please describe what makes your concept especially noteworthy or unique in each of the ratings areas. Every project will be rated on the following: Branding; Environmental Graphics/Wayfinding; Circulation/Store Planning; Merchandising Fixturing; Materials & Finishes; Lighting; and Visual Merchandising. At the judges discretion, some projects will be considered for Innovation Awards.

In addition, each entry should include the Scope of Services Provided;  Goals & Objectives and how these were achieved; Brand Promise and Customer Journey. (Please, no bullet points.)

All entries must be accompanied by professional photography and each image must be captioned.

If you are a design firm entering the competition, you must REMOVE ALL REFERENCES to YOUR CONSULTANCY. This is a concealed-identity competition. Remove company name, logos and other identifying information from your project description, images, floor plans and video. FAILURE TO REMOVE IDENTIFICATION will result in disqualification. NO FEES WILL BE RETURNED.

Submitter hereby grants to The Retail Design Institute, for its use including but not restricted to the organization’s promotional materials, placement on its website www.retaildesigninstitute.org and use in seminars periodicals and presentations : and to the Publisher and the Retail Design Institute , a fully paid up license to reproduce and distribute copies of the Content in Publisher’s magazine to post the Content on Publisher’s website , to edit, revise and otherwise adapt the Content before or after such publication or posting, and to reprint and republish the Content in such form and in such manner as Publisher, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate.

Submitter will provide Publisher with a project source list of the items in the Content and the names of those who should be credited for each item, and Submitter will otherwise cooperate with and promptly assist Publisher in preparing the Content for publication.

Publisher will credit those identified in the project source list in a manner customary to the trade.

Submitter warrants that it has the authority to grant the foregoing license to the Retail Design Institute and Institute’s Publishers and to authorize Institute and Publisher to identify and credit those named in the project source list, and Submitter will indemnify and hold Institute and Publisher harmless from all costs (including attorneys’ fees), claims and damages if Publisher is accused of or held to have violated the rights of any third party as a result of such publication and/or posting.
