From the International President

Updated: Oct 1, 2023

Almost to the end

Cynthia Hirsch Ortiz, RDI

Here we are almost to the end of 2022! But the year isn’t finished yet.

I want to thank all members who participated in our most recent International Officer election either as a candidate or voter.

Please join me in congratulating and welcoming back Kathryn Hof Abercrombie, RDI, and Dina Meindl, Allied RDI, who were reelected International Secretary and International Treasurer, respectively, for the 2022-2024 term, which begins November 1, 2022, and ends October 31, 2024. We will be joined by Kathryn Patton-Miller, RDI, in the International Vice President’s role. She is currently the Atlanta | Southeast Chapter President and will finish her 2020-2022 term there. We want to extend heartfelt thanks to Lindsay Henningfeld, RDI, for her service as International Vice President over the past two years as she pursues life in her own new design business.

I, too, thank you for voting to reelect me as your International President.

It has been an absolute pleasure serving as International President. In the current term, we will continue with the programs established over the last two years and will be initiating new programs to enhance membership value (CEU courses, professional resource webinars, and town halls). I am determined to improve our communication and outreach through our social channels and website. We recently revamped the Design Resource Directory on the site to include all member companies providing services and products bringing value to members and the industry. New initiatives include partnering with Shop! Association, VMSD, IDC, AIA, PAVE, NRF, Retail Connect Events, and Connecting Point, to develop meaningful events as well as plans to introduce a new Master Class series. While we have accomplished quite a bit, we are not done!

Email me directly with your thoughts on the year to come. Together, we can make a difference in our industry, our association, and our personal and professional development.

Sadly, I direct your attention to the passing of Richard Lewis, FRDI. Please keep his family in your hearts and read about his contributions to the Institute.

BTW, check out Eric Feigenbaum’s latest thought leadership piece on our website.
