With Veterans Day just around the corner, New York Chapter member Joseph Scaretta is hoping a new charitable pop-up program sponsored by his company is a game changer for unemployed and homeless veterans. “’Getting Heroes Hired” was created as CS Hudson’s way of giving back to those who have gone above and beyond to serve our country,” explains Scaretta, founder and co-ceo of CS Hudson, a a Hauppauge, N.Y.-based company that builds pop-up shops and in-store shops nationally. The program is designed to leverage CS Hudson’s partnerships in experiential retail to provide veterans with the tools and resources necessary to re-enter the workforce. “Our hope is that this event will serve as a day of life-changing support for these highly valued members of society,” Scaretta notes.
The first event is planned for Feb. 26, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in New York City. Veterans interested in attending the event will be required to complete a questionnaire to reserve an appointment in advance. Veterans who attend will find free-of-charge job placement resources including resume writing, simulated job interviews and entrepreneurial mentorship. Attendees will also receive a care package to support their progression through the job-seeking process; and “extreme makeovers.”
Getting Heroes Hired is the latest philanthropic initiative from CS Hudson. Last year, Pop-Ups for Good helped homeless children in underserved communities experience a day of fun and free toys. This year, the CS Hudson team has plans for additional innovative, immersive retail experiential events that not only bring value to vacant retail spaces, but goodwill to communities.
