Honoring a Retail Design Visionary: Paul Pizzini, FRDI Memorial Scholarship Launched to Nurture Future Talent


PAVE Global and the Retail Design Institute introduce a new grant and PAVE Gala experience in memory of industry mentor Paul Pizzini, FRDI


Hollywood, Fla. (September 30, 2024) PAVE Global, in partnership with the Retail Design Institute, is pleased to announce the launch of the Paul Pizzini, FRDI Memorial Grant + Experience. This new initiative honors the legacy of Paul Pizzini, a Fellow of the Retail Design Institute (FRDI) and a passionate mentor who profoundly impacted the retail design industry.


The Paul Pizzini, FRDI Memorial Grant + Experience will provide a significant cash award, a trip to attend the 2024 PAVE Gala in New York City on December 12, 2024 (travel and per diem covered), and a 1-year Student Membership to the Institute. The grant aims to recognize and support leadership potential in various design fields, including Graphic Design, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Applied Design, UX Design, Product Design, and Branding, with a focus on Consumer/Retail Environments.


"Paul Pizzini was not just a visionary in retail design; he was a beacon of inspiration for countless emerging talents in our industry," said Cynthia Ortiz, RDI, International President of the Retail Design Institute. "This grant is our way of ensuring that Paul's passion for mentorship and innovation continues to shape the future of retail design."

The grant is open to full-time students enrolled in 2 or 4-year programs in the United States or Canada, pursuing degrees in relevant design fields. Applicants must submit a cover letter, portfolio, professional reference, and current transcript by November 1, 2024.


Kathryn Patton-Miller, International Vice President of the Retail Design Institute, added, "We're excited to offer this unique opportunity that combines significant financial support with invaluable industry exposure. The PAVE Gala experience will allow the recipient to network with leaders in retail design, carrying forward Paul's legacy of nurturing new talent."

The Paul Pizzini, FRDI Memorial Grant + Experience is funded by the Pizzini Family, RetailOne, Miller Zell, and Ensemble Architecture + Design, demonstrating the industry's commitment to honoring Paul's memory and supporting the next generation of retail designers.
