Chuck Raymond, a Life member and Fellow of the Institute passed away on May 15, 2018, of complications from a brain aneurysm. He was in hospice care near his home in Palm Springs. Chuck was president of Raymond Design Associates, based in Atlanta, and for more than 25 years provided a wide variety of local and national clients with design and rollout services. Chuck headed the team that designed and implemented hundreds of award-winning projects from department stores to value retailers and airport retailers. As an early member of the Atlanta Chapter (now Atlanta | Southeast), Chuck was an active participant.
“Chuck was a true talent and an inspiration to the design community,” commented Paul Pizzini, FRDI, and fellow Atlanta Chapter member. “His support and participation in the Atlanta Chapter was heartfelt. He will be missed by all. His colleague Steven Brunner said, “Chuck will be greatly missed by both his previous staffers and clients, but his legacy lives on in the environments he envisioned.”
He is survived by sisters Barbara Sidock and Cheryl DeWaal of Michigan, as well as aunts, nieces, nephews, and an extended LGBTQ family.
Services were held on June 3, in Palm Springs. Another is planned for June 30 in Atlanta. For more info chuckraymond@mindspring.com. If desired, memorial donations can be made to www.amfar.org
